Recognition and Continuation
We are taught that recognition changes behavior.
Notice the mistake.
It changes understanding.
People recognize destructive relationships and remain.
Organizations recognize failing processes and continue.
Institutions recognize repeating history and preserve the conditions that produced it.
Entire societies recognize problems that survive generations.
Recognition is not rare.
Continuation is.
For years I assumed awareness was the difficult part.
The record refused to cooperate.
Again and again, intelligent people accurately described the patterns surrounding them while continuing to produce them.
The contradiction appeared across psychology.
Across leadership.
Across criminal investigations.
Across digital forensics.
Across lived experience.
The explanations differed.
The observation did not.
That observation eventually became impossible to ignore.
It did not answer the question.
It made a different question unavoidable.
